September’s been a whirlwind, huh? And things don’t look like they’re slowing down any time soon … but honestly, that’s what I love about owning my own travel business!
Here’s what I want my clients to know about moving into fall:
Updates and Announcements:
Out of Office Dates:
September 25-29: I’ll be in Cancun, Mexico, at the Fairmont Mayakoba for the International Luxury Travel Mart. Travel pros had to meet a certain threshold of connections + sales to get invited, and I’m so excited to meet with over 100 hotels and tour operators from the Caribbean, Mexico, South America, and Europe. Psst … be sure to follow along on Instagram for all the outtakes!
October 2-11: My nannies are on vacation this week, so this working momma is taking a bit of a forced break on new client trips! I will still be available to clients with current trips planned, but please anticipate a slower reply time. We are planning to spend the week on Jekyll Island, GA, while my husband attends a school. As always, follow along on Instagram and my Facebook page.
Third Quarter Donation:
As you may know, I donate $1 per night traveled by my clients every quarter. This quarter, you guys traveled 250 nights — so $250 went to the Michael Gressman Golf Classic, which raises money for the Preston Robert Tish Brain Tumor Center at Duke. Michael was a long-time client’s son who passed away from brain cancer, so thank YOU for helping me contribute to a near-and-dear cause.
Like everyone else, I’ve been haunted by Hurricane Harvey’s impact on our neighbors in Texas. My aunt and uncle were among the many who were displaced and lost everything. In addition to the third quarter donation, HCTC made a monetary donation to Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.
Currently: Travel Trends You Should Know
- Traveling with Grandma is so in. More and more families are opting into multigenerational travel — when you whisk the whole family away on vacation, from grandkids to grandparents. Is it right for your family? This blog post from the HCTravel archives might help you decide.
- Drool-worthy all-inclusives … all that’s missing is you! Many of my clients LOVE all-inclusives. If that’s you, too, then add the Grand Velas in Riviera Maya, Mexico, to your list (seriously, click this link to check out this beauty).
- Safari with a side of sun. An African safari honeymoon is the DREAM for many couples. One way to amp up the romance even further? End your safari adventure with a few days of dreamy r&r on Mauritius, a tiny speck of an island just to the west of Madagascar. Need convincing? This NYT travelogue about Mauritius’ secluded beaches and laid-back vibe should do it.
That’s all for this month’s updates! As always, let me know how I can help you plan your next trip! — Heather
